Message in a bottle

I sailed across the ocean
I braved the stormy sea
Searching for my lover
So that they can set me free
It tried to drag me under
And pull me from above
The current was relentless
But it cannot drown our love
My body bruised and broken
But my devotion never shattered
The waves took their toll
But finding you, was all that mattered
At last, in sight the shore
A breath of joy I did release
As I drifted towards the front
The tide beneath me did decrease
Anchored in the sand
The distant sun began to set
My love for you was waiting
In the place where we first met
Several years passed by
And as the moon rolled in and out
I longed to hear your footsteps
But they did not come about
My heart, it waited patient
But a grief within it grew
As I slowly slipped away again
Once more away from you
One crisp clear night I knew
When the stars began to glow
The time had come for me to rest
For you too, had let me go.

The anatomy of the universe

The oceans surge, the rivers flow
Hear them rushing as they go
Just as blood runs through a vein
The gift of life each bestow

Above waters, beneath the sand
Lay the bones of the land
Their strength and might never waiver
Cracks and fractures they withstand

A host of stars focus their gaze
Searching through each planets maze
Even though they’re laid to rest
Their angel eye never strays

The atmosphere is cloaked and thin
Enduring, is this layer of skin
Armour stretching far and wide
Guarding all of life within

The sun, the moon, our beating heart
A healing beauty from the start
Out and in their pulses glow
Until the day when life must part.

The eyes of a stranger

The eyes of a stranger are intriguing and obscure
Each swirl of emerald selling love whilst seeing war
Both glimmer boldly telling lies of sweet content
Perfectly disguising days of sadness they have spent
Always seeing others but never being seen
Is the fate they’re used to, these hypnotic balls of green
One by one each ocean, bares the depths of others woes
Whilst sinking their own sorrows, never wanting to impose
Clear cut and crystal, both jewels patiently glisten
Never truly speaking to those who never truly listen
Mesmerising others to never delve beyond their gaze
Is a gift time has afforded to their spellbinding ways
All the while they’re struck with silent waves of grief
Drowned by invisible tears, cried in dreams for temporary relief
The eyes of a stranger are warriors of their own
Never understood and sentenced to be lone.

Darkness

When you find yourself in darkness
You’ll be surprised to know there’s light
Glimmering inside you
Like a perfect starry night
If you wonder how to find it
First, it twinkles in your toes
Beaming through your body
As the light within you grows
When your heart is glowing
Just as a moonbeam strikes midnight
No more shall you fear the darkness
As you radiate so bright.

O to be a bubble

O to be a bubble
Gliding in the breeze
Softly passing creatures
As they frolic under trees

O to be a bubble
Soaring past the clouds
Cruising through their softness
And escaping all the crowds

O to be a bubble
Coasting by the green
Rolling by the blossom
Whilst admiring the scene

O to be a bubble
Floating out to sea
Sailing in the sky
Whilst the waves crash under me

O to be a bubble
Drifting up a hill
Meandering in solitude
Whilst the world is silent and still.

This little thing called Peace

This little thing called peace
It’s a tricky place to find
People often struggle to
Cause there’s chaos in their mind
When the noise is louder
Than the birds who hum their song
It’s hard to feel a stillness
When the cat has got your tongue
It’s like a game of hide and seek
Only hidden it is not
But buried beneath despair
And seek it you cannot
It asks you for forgiveness
Commanding fear and doubt to sea
It welcomes in acceptance
All things you wish to flee
Peace amongst the people
It’s an easy thing to preach
But finding it within your heart
Is not an easy thing to teach.

The Sun and the Moon

The sun and the moon
They’re a curious thing
So far away
But a magic they bring
They light up the world
And a spark in our eyes
One by one
They light up our skies
Like beacons of hope
And reminders of grace
Day and night
With a smile on their face
The sun and the moon
They’re a gift from above
Together they’re never
Out of cheer, out of love.

Before, During, After

Before

Before I often sat and feared the silent night
I never found peace amongst a sky that’s ceased its light
Nor did I ever find much comfort within a lively day
Yet cars and frantic chatter did keep the tide at bay
But even at a distance the waves pulled and crept up close
Towards the shore and beckoned near my wavering ghost.

During

At first it felt as though the world had fallen to its death
But then at once the rivers and the trees inhaled a mighty breath
And out they blew a gust of life that broke free beneath their grief
Carefully I listened as they basked amongst great relief
Curious enough their wonder sparked a joy of mine
The calming rush of quiet that had seemed forbidden all this time
Before I’d thought such silence was what brought about alarm
But how the stillness round me now gives me a greater sense of calm
Without the hum of engines on the ground and up above
The buzz of bees and songs of birds fit around me like a glove
To think I’d thought that solitude could only be sort in fields of green
But I see now that it is so, that solitude has always been
Hidden and buried by guards of brick, glass and smoke
But since the guards lay dormant, life has returned, it has awoke.

After

Hearts and souls grow far too old and quick to be led astray
Far better to love too much than face the price to pay
Footsteps forward, there’s not enough time to look back
Too much time spent in the past will cause the future to lack
That time is here, it’s now, this moment shall not repeat the same
To never recognise the beauty of this chance, would surely be a shame.
