A Jet Black Beauty

Raindrops waltz between each stride
A jet black beauty commands the tide
Each gallop sounds a symphony
A string quartet roams wild and free
Above him wings of grace unfold
They bless him to be mighty and bold
Majestic, he glides through his throne
An American smooth, but a stance of stone
Wrapped in silk though his armour steel
A king to whom each warrior kneel
His footsteps softly kiss the shore
They whisper triumphs of grandeur.

The catcher

Imagine if our pillow captured all of our dreams
Collecting every wild adventure as the midnight moon softly beams
Absorbing every quest, each great escape and heartfelt kiss
Gathering each and every single want, desire and wish
Then whilst our souls are resting and our hearts begin to rise
In leaps the catcher who wears a mystical disguise
A special sort of magic dances out from his fingertips
An unfamiliar spell is whispered from the edge of his lips
He reaches out a catching tool, the kind that’s splendour and long
And in it traps the nightmares whilst he hums his enchanted song
From his hand he blows a heap of dust that glitters on its way
It softly rests upon your pillow and allows the dreams to stay
Away he goes, so quietly, he disappears amongst the night
Carrying with him carefully every scream, each tear and every fright
His cloak is dark and endless, it trails behind him as he goes
Where he’s off to next no one ever truly knows
And when you gently wake his lingering presence you will feel
But never shall you be certain if the catcher is truly real
He’ll leave a trail of magic to convince you that it’s true
But never will the catcher come again to visit you…

My magic paintbrush

My magic paintbrush, would brighten up the sky
And free all of the birds who’ve long forbidden been to fly
Caged amongst the clouds and beaten by the hail
At the touch of a stroke, would soon be granted bail
My magic paintbrush, would soak up all the greed
Spreading it out evenly to those who are in need
It would splatter grace around and make it rain peace from above
Harmony would splash down through white feathers of a dove
My magic paintbrush, would freshen up the land
Injecting life to those who have been buried by the sand
Trampled by the waves and drowned by the tide
No longer would any man nor woman have to hide
My magic paintbrush, would strip away the hate
And colour it with love until each enemy was a mate
With an extra dollop for those, who are truly callous and cruel
My magic paintbrush would not be taken for a fool
My magic paintbrush, would rejuvenate the sea
Blend away the plastic and allow the creatures to flee
It would swirl around a portal that whirled on the ocean floor
Allowing them to escape through an enchanted secret door
My magic paintbrush, would clean up every inch of air
Using all of its bristles to paint trees everywhere
In gold, their trunks would never waiver nor fall
In green, their luscious leaves would stand mighty and tall
My magic paintbrush, would sketch ladders up to space
So everyone could peer down and gaze amongst this magnificent place
Absorbing all the joy and every second of the rush
That has been conjured up, by my magic paintbrush.

Doubt

I bet that the stars don’t ever doubt their shine
Nor that a slice of chocolate cake would deny that it’s divine
I’ve never known a mountain contest that it’s sublime
So why is it that I hear you doubt yourself all the time?
I bet there is no lemon that would profess to be a lime
Nor any dollar that would claim to be a dime
I’ve never known a church bell say it rang and didn’t chime
So why is it that you doubt yourself all of the time?

A Buzzy Bee

If I were an animal
A bee is what I’d choose
I’d snooze all day on flowers
And have honey making powers
I’d buzz between the trees
And spread my wings with ease
If I were a buzzy bee I’d never have the blues
Pollen from my pockets I would sow
To help the plants and crops grow
I’d save the world each day
Munching nectar along the way
If I were an animal
A bee is what I’d choose
If I were a buzzy bee I’d never have the blues.

A note to self

Be kind to your ears
And gentle with your nose
Be soft with your lips
And patient with your toes
Stay delicate with your hands
And loving with your head
Have faith in your shoulders
Go steady with your legs
Afford yourself compassion
And remember that you are great!
There will only ever be one YOU
And life’s much too short, to fill with hate.

If I were an oak tree

If I were an oak tree
I wonder what I’d think
Watching others be cut down
Whilst the world is on the brink
I wonder if I’d panic
That soon it might be me
Whose golden roots will be ripped out
Along with prosperity
If I were an oak tree
I think that I’d be sad
Seeing mass destruction
And hearing them be glad
They seem to have forgotten
That my worth is more than gold
But value to them means nothing
For they won’t listen to what they’re told
If I were an oak tree
I’d wonder if they could see
That all their gold and power
Shall mean nothing without me
I’d like to bid farewell
To the foxes and the bees
But sadly there are no creatures left
Not since we’ve lost the trees
If I were an oak tree
I’d like to think there’s hope
That the planet could recover
But without us, it just won’t cope.

Love at Last

Love at last
I wondered when you’d call
I thought my time had passed
Yet it turns out not at all
Like rainfall in a drought
You suddenly poured down
Washing away my doubt
And gave to me my clown
Perfect like a flower
Love began to bloom
Flourishing by the hour
Away grows all my gloom
And as a lightening bolt
I was uncertain if you’d strike
But rushing through my veins are volts
Of joy and passion alike
Once guarded like a tower
My heart finally set free
In my final hour
I hope my love still chooses me
Love at last
I wondered when you’d call
I thought my time had passed
Yet it turns out not at all.
